Goodbye Notebook

One of my favourite magazines that I’ve worked for since arriving in Sydney is Notebook. Not only are they totally in to all things crafty but they alway produce such beautiful homes pages and so their briefs are always a joy to work on. I was so surprised and sad to receive an email from their PA yesterday letting me know that Notebook magazine will be closing and that the November issue will be their last. I’ve  finished my styling in Sydney now so I’m not sad from a work point of view but so sad that Australia has lost a truly lovely magazine. I fail to understand why it’s always the lovely magazines that close? It’s readership although small was 70,000 which is still pretty impressive. I guess Notebook has gone the same way as my American faves Domino and Blueprint so yet again I find myself mourning the loss of another mag. I’m feeling grateful that I got to work for such a lovely title and with such a great team – thank you Notebook. What do you think? Will you miss Notebook? what other mags have you loved and lost?

I’m back!

Apologies once again for being a bad blogger. Now that I’ve stopped working and have been thinking about our move back home and our exciting plans for when we get there I’ve found myself in the most peculiar mood . To be honest I think I’m putting it down to exhaustion. My feet have barely touched the ground since landing in Sydney just over a year ago and now they have I’m feeling like a bit of a lost cause and don’t really know what to do with myself. Words have failed me the past few days so I didn’t even try to say hello!  I’ve found my direction and I’m back now, and have some more shoots to share and some other loveliness that I’ve spotted recently so stay tuned!

Cute Idea {Real Living Magazine}

This little project is so easy. We shot this almost a year ago – it was part of my first Sydney shoot and I’d forgotten all about it until it popped up in this months Real Living. A simple Jewellery tree is the perfect way to show off your fave jewels, All you need is a few sticks, some blue tac and a vase..too easy! I’m thinking Spraying the branches in neon shades could look pretty good too.

The wooden and silver Jewels are from queen of folk Naomi Murrell and the gold items are by Polli.

Inspirational Home {Liza Giles}

In my line of work I’m lucky enough to come across some amazing houses. I regularly suffer from a little dose of  “Home Envy”. While over at My Black Book today I was reminded of a really inspirational home that I fell in love with a couple of years back  in Elle Deco. It’s the glorious home of Liza Giles, senior stylist for Designer Guild. It has that dreamy, boho chic feel that looks so effortless and yet so perfectly styled all at once. The white walls, teamed with vintage treasures and strong pops of pattern and colour is exactly my kind of style, I’m not one for minimal so I love that everywhere you look there is another curious collection of beautiful object to feast your eyes upon. So what do you think?, do you keep your home minimal or fill it with treasures?

My Dream Office

As we focus our attentions on moving back to the Uk Simon & I haven’t been able to help ourselves but start to dream about the prospect of creating a new home. We loved the whole process {well most of it!} of turning our little Victorian semi from something deemed uninhabitable by the local council into our first home. However living away from home has really changed our perspective on things and how we want to live. We’re desperate to move out into the country a little more and have a bit of space around us, space for a gorgeous outbuilding / studio so we can both work from the garden, one just like this would do us very nicely…

I stumbled across this dreamy space over at Hooray Design a few weeks ago and can’t stop thinking about it. I love the roller door and big window, I could be very happy working from there! For now though I’m making the most of the sunshine in Sydney and have set up office on the balcony so I can plan our next venture while looking out over roof tops of Paddington towards the sparkling harbour in the distance, I can’t complain it’s a pretty good spot for an office too!

Country Style {Cover Shoot}
