New From Orla Kiely

Looking for a retro style radio? {other than the classic Roberts Revival} Then look no further than Orla Kiely’s latest collaboration with Pure. I spotted this over at Home Shopping Spy, it goes on sale in John Lewis in November, looks like Orla is slowly taking over the world…

Preserve Jar Lanterns {Notebook Shoot}

It’s been such a gorgeous spring day here in Sydney, and perfect for sharing this simple little “make” that I styled  for the new {and possibly last} issue of Notebook magazine. Vintage preserving jars with a simple wire handle make a cute vase or lantern, perfect for spring time blooms…

Mood Boards {House & Garden Shoot}

So here they are, the moodboards and sketches that I put together before my H&G colour shoot. A little later than promised, so I apologise, but things are crazily busy round here at the moment. Who’d of thought the moment I stop working the bigger the “to do” list!

The only person with a bigger “to do” list than me at the moment is poor Simon. He’s busily working away, designing and compiling my new website {which is very exciting}. He’s also got his own website to be working on and our latest little venture, designing the website for our “coming very soon” online store.  I on the other hand am being far less creative. I’m in the progress of sorting out my tax return {yawn!} packing up our little apartment & trying to wade through page upon page of information about importing goods into the UK {yawn!} – turns out my brain just isn’t compatible with pages of charts and numbers…pretty pictures are much more my thing!

Colour Inspired By Nature {House & Garden}

Regular readers will know that I’m a big fan of colour! Generally colour is the starting point for all of my decorating schemes and I find colour inspiration just about everywhere. When I first arrived in Sydney I was so facinated by how “colourful” everything was. The grass seems greener, the sky is certainly bluer and the birds and butterflies are amazing! So when House & Garden asked me to produce a colour feature showing how to translate colours from nature into the home I was already feeling super inspired, here’s the outcome…

The blue room is my favourite. I know perhaps it might be a little dramatic for an everyday sitting room but as a second reception room {wouldn’t it be nice to have one of those!} – fabulous! Would love to know what you think, how brave are you with colour?

Tomorrow I’ll post the moodboards.

This weekend I’ll be…

So another week has flown by, and I’m ashamed to say it was a most unproductive one here in Sydney! I have such a vast “to do” list at the moment and all I seem to be doing is adding items to the bottom of it rather than crossing it off! Today we are slightly nearer crossing one off the list. This afternoon Simon and I spent a few hours working on the “Save The Dates” for the wedding, there are a few more adjustments to be made but almost done! To be honest I’m not sure where the rest of the day went, it just seemed to disappear on us…

So tomorrow I plan to try out another little wedding related craft project so I can tick that of the list. My third item off the list is to make a little video of our apartment. I know it sounds silly but in years to come when our little Sydney adventure is a distant memory I’ll be able to remind myself of the time we set up home in Paddington. Item number four is to try to start packing up a few things that I won’t be needing for a while and ship them back to the UK {to be honest I’ve been delaying this, pulling our temporary home apart feels a little sad}. So that’s my weekend all mapped out, what are your plans?

I have to admit I have lost a few hours immersing myself in inspirational blogs…

If you have a spare moment pop by here to see pictures of Rob Ryan’s East London Studio.

I’ve been checking out this beautiful blog to prepare myself for the British winter.

I’m so inspired by the work of Amanda Henderson – check out this interview at Yellow Trace.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a shoot that I styled for the November issue of Australian House & Garden. Enjoy the weekend x

Loving Your Work {Felicity Hall}

Over the past  18 months or so needlecraft has certainly worked its way back into our hearts {another very good reason as to why  we shouldn’t be saying goodbye to mags like Notebook} Crafting is one again cool {although for some of us it never really stopped!} A few months back Felicity Hall contacted me about her amazing Needlepoint Kits. Check out her website for some seriously cool contemporary designs and for a free download of  “Love”. She ships internationally so it’s not only fellow Brits that can get busy with the needle and thread!

Being a big fan of moodboards I love the section where Felicity pops together inspiring moodboards for her designs. A very clever lady – defo a stylist in there! Oh and check out her blog for other stitchy loveliness
