Wedding Photographer

Hello my friends, how was your weekend? My mind is back home in the UK today.  Mum and my best friend Laura are heading to a wedding fair in hunt of inspiration, I wish I could be there with them, but I know I’ve got the best girls on the job. Wedding plans are ticking along slowly {so tricky when you’re on the other side of the world!} We have however finally set a date and booked in our photographer. I’m lucky enough to work with so many amazing photographers, that choosing a photographer was tricky. In the end rather than choosing one of my colleagues we decided to ask the very talented Eliza Claire . I wanted to share some of her beautiful work with you because Simon and I are really excited that she’s agreed to shoot our wedding…

Byron & Beyond

So this week Simon & I finally got around to booking up our little 3 1/2 week getaway before we head back to the UK. There was so much that we wanted to see and do before heading home but time has just run out on us. Besides which it’s a great excuse to come back! When we leave Sydney at the end of the month we’re heading up to Cairns. After a few days based in Port Douglas and exploring The Daintree rainforest we are heading to the Whitsundays for some R&R , a quick swing by Brisbane and then a short drive down to Byron Bay for 6 days before coming back to Sydney for a couple of days. While trawling through the internet looking for a cute cottage or Apartment to stay in Byron I remembered Atlantic Guesthouse. It was featured in Country Style a while back {sadly it’s not available when we are in Byron but gorgeous!}

How cute it that Airstream?! Reminds me of Vintage Vacations in the UK.

My question for you is does any one have any must have places to go see or to go eat in and around Byron? Secret shops or great spots for coffee {well a cuppa tea in my case!} I’d love and insider knowledge.

Afternoon In Vaucluse

With only a week left in Sydney I’m attempting to tick a few last “must see” items off my list. This afternoon we drove to Vaucluse. It’s only about 15 mins away and I really don’t know why we haven’t ventured there more often.  Vaucluse offers some of the best views across the harbour and I was determined to get at least one sunset shot of the city before we leave. So armed with the camera we took a stroll along Shark Beach and up into Nielsen Park

…where we found a perfect bench under a tree to sit, listen to the kookaburras and watch the sun go down. Simon made a flippant comment that it was like a metaphor of the sun going down on our time in Sydney, he was of course taking the mickey out of me but I thought it was actually very true. As punishment for mocking me I made him piggy back me back down the hill…we didn’t make it very far!

Very soon it will be time to say goodbye to Sydney…{but lets not think about that for now}

Happy Friday my friends! x

Fabric Florist {Jane Joss}

I came across the work of Alyssa and Joslyn Krismer {aka Jane Joss} over at Bluebird Luxe. I’m such a fan of all things fabric that their little creations instantly caught my eye.  The cute floral arrangements are all handmade and can be customised to suit any style. For someone like me who seem to kill every plant that is ever unfortunate enough to be left in my not so green fingers they’re perfect!

Ode To The Mason Jar

The humble preserving jar {be it Kilner, Mason or Ball} has become somewhat Iconic and is certainly worthy of being classed as a modern-day design classic. I’ve seen so many simple yet beautiful reincarnations of this un- assuming glass jar that I had to share just a few…

Bondi Calling

Hello my friends. Once again it’s been a while! A few technically hitches, a spot of sunshine and some serious downsizing has kept me away for the past few days. The weekend was mostly spent procrastinating about packing up the apartment. We’ve now managed to sell my desk {I now type once more from my lap} the side board {so the TV is now precariously balanced on a stool} and the sofa {which thankfully isn’t leaving until we do} needless to say our little apartment is looking a shadow of its former self. My mission for today is to go and buy some boxes and sort through what I can’t bear to part with and will be shipped home and what will be going into the garage sale in a weeks time. Then it’s photographing the bookcase, Simon’s desk and the wardrobe for Ebay round two. In order to delay the inevitable just a little bit longer we spent a sunny Sunday afternoon strolling along the beach and through the streets of Bondi…oh Bondi I’ll miss you when I’m huddled around the fire in a grey UK in November

The other task for today is to book our little three and a half week holiday before we leave Oz. Exciting times! I’ll be back later with some gorgeous Mason Jar inspiration and a lovely Kids feature I had the pleaurse of shooting for this months Real Living x
