Thank you all for joining in my festive giveaway and for all of the lovely comments. The winner was picked out of the hat this morning and Upon A Fold’s cute decorations will be winging their way to …

Well done Ruth! Today is our last full day in Australia {for a little while at least} so I’m off to make the most of it in the sunshine. If you don’t hear from me before I’ll be back in the UK and blogging on Friday x

Things That Make Me Go Mmmm {Felt Circles}

To be honest there are sooo many things that make me go Mmmm so I thought I’d start a regular little section that goes by that very name.  A little round-up goodies that I’m loving right now. {I admit I’m an interior floozy…always loving something new each week, it’s an occupational hazard!} First up Felt Circles. To be honest most felty finds make me go “Mmmm” but after my Triangles post I seem to find myself drawn to all things geometric so circles it is. Delicious me thinks – oh yes indeedie!

Images 1 & 2 from Purl Bee click here for a lovely felt circles garland tutorial. 3. Gorgeous cushion found via our humble abowed. This would be pretty simple to make yourself but if you’re not feeling so craft John Lewis do something similar.4&5. Yes I know I post about Rachel Castle regularly but it’s because she’s so damn talented and I love her work! 6. Another cute felt garland idea via SF Girl By Bay {I’m thinking felt garlands this Christmas my friends!}

A lovely colourful way to start the week, don’t you agree?! x

Exploring Bangalow {a little more!}

So Bangalow has proven to be my haven the past few days. With the weather staying true to it’s previous form and the sun reluctant to come out to play we’ve been driving around, eating late brekkies and early lunches and most importantly exploring cute shops. Aside from  Heaths Oldwares a couple of other places caught my eye in Bangalow. First up Aurora Design Studio. I’m a bit of a sucker for “judging a shop by it’s exterior”, so immediately I was drawn to the cute chalkboard signs.  Owner Carolyn  has a moto for the store “design with a conscience’ so Aurora sells beautifully designed products which support local designers and makers and the environment, take a peep…

Second up is Lazybones. Back in Sydney I lived really close to their Paddington store so I was a regular visitor and featured lots of their gorgeous floral print homewares {especially in my Roses shoot} The Bangalow store is easily three times the size and has the added bonus of lots of vintage finds. I particularly liked the very appropriate touch to the bench outside {technically Simon isn’t a hubby yet, but 6 months to the day he will be!}

Now my next recommendation is slightly further afield in Lismore but is well worth the scenic drive should you happen to be in the area on the first or last saturday of the month , for the car boot markets {please check this I only briefly saw a glimpse of the banner before being distracted by a stall full of old haberdashery items!}. Ross from Heaths Oldwares gave us the tip-off earlier in the week and we weren’t disappointed. Obviously I can’t possibly buy anything else there simply isn’t room in the case, so naturally we came away with the following…Whoops!

And it was all fantastically priced, I’m particularly loving the old tubes of buttons – cute!!! There was some great vintage clothing on offer too. I managed to treat myself to a lovely new frock-well it was $25 it would have been rude not to!

Now I just have to figure out how to get it home. Tomorrow is our last day in Byron, in the evening we head back to Sydney for a few last days before setting off for Blighty.

Hope you’ve all had lovely weekends my friends x

Ideas For Christmas Tables

Sorry for my absence the past couple of days. The internet connection in our apartment is a little ropey and I’ve been far too impatient to sit and wait for images to load! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of November – only 34 more sleeps to Christmas! Today I thought I’d share the last shoot that I popped together for Notebook magazine. Five Ways To Dress Your Festive Table. Which look are you – I think this year I’m going to go for look number 1! If you want to know where anything is from just shout – I was going to write it all out but as I said the internet keeps cutting out so I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Keep watching this space for  news of a cute little giveaway. The lovely folk at Upon A Fold gave me the paper garland and stars from the Scandi set to give away to one lucky reader…

Exploring Bangalow {Heath’s Old Wares}

This time next week I’ll be on a plane on my way back to the Uk. I’m feeling so excited about seeing everyone back but seriously sad to be leaving too. We’re trying to make the most of our last week in Oz. I just wish the sun would come out! Still a few clouds gave us the perfect opportunity to explore the area yesterday. When I asked  my blogging friends what I should do in Byron the clear winner was Bangalow! So off we headed – and you were right – sooooo cute! Several people told me to check out Heath’s Old Wares and I’m so pleased I did – you guys know me so well, we were in heaven. Well slightly hellish actually because with our suitcases already brimming and several hundred dollars in shipping costs already to our names we had to be seriously disciplined and keep it to strictly browsing only! Luckily owner Ross was more than happy for us to browse and gave us some fab tips of where else to head in the area {check out his list “The Local Trail of like minded vintage shops here}. If you are ever in the Byron area you have to head to Heath’s Old Wares, Ross & Eva has been collecting for 45 years! they have more vintage ladders; cute baskets, rustic crates and glorious glassware than you could shake a stick at! My snaps don’t do the place justice…

of course I am a self-confessed junk-aholic {and Simon is worse!} so we didn’t quite leave empty handed. A few cute mini wooden scrabble tiles may have found their way home with us – whooops!!

You can keep up to date with Ross & Eva’s ever increasing collection via their blog.

So a big thank you to you all for the tip!
