Things That Make Me Go Mmmm {Vintage Baubles}

Hello my friends. Hope you’ve all had lovely weekends? I must admit the sudden change in temperatures and 24hrs of flying has now caught up with us & left Simon and I feeling rather below par. We’re now suffering from a bout of “man flu” and feeling a little sorry for ourselves. So the weekend that was meant to see us catching up with friends saw us tucked up on the sofa instead. I did manage to find the strength to get rather excited about a batch of vintage baubles on Ebay though and luckily my man found the energy to place a winning bid!  I love vintage baubles. We have some of my grandparent old ones and every time I see the pretty pastel glass, indented patterns and painted designs  it’s a little reminder of Christmases past & I get a warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling inside…yes indeed vintage baubles make me go Mmmm!

I’ll pop up some pics of my latest purchase as soon as the arrive – very exciting! We’re about to brave the roads and head up to Suffolk, where we’re going to be house sitting for Simon’s mum for the next couple of months. Most excitingly we’ll be able to reacquaint ourselves with all our “stuff” that’s been in storage there for the past 14 months, it will be like Christmas has arrived early…If you don’t hear back from me in the next day I’ll be buried under boxes so send out the search party!!

Holiday Crafts {Festive Tealights}

Before I start I have a little confession to make. I did create this little project last year, but rather stupidly I didn’t post it until after Christmas! I love these little tealights so much that I thought I should post them again…

These wine glass tealight holders can really be used all year round but with the red & white bakers twine they look perfectly festive…

The shade is made from a piece of velum paper {available at craft stores} the shape / size of your shade will be dependant on your wine glasses but as a rough idea check out the guidelines and template I created for a Real Living feature here.  Once you’ve cut out your shade fasten with double-sided tape. Use punch to create holes around the base of the shade and thread the twine through. If you are intending to burn candles for any length of time, or if your wine glasses are shallow then use battery operated tealights…et vola, super cute christmas candles…

I will be posting new {non recycled!} festive craft ideas over the next few weeks so watch this space! I’m so looking forward to getting reaquainted with my masses of craft boxes, but first I have important wedding details to finalize and a few projects to complete for our new venture! Happy Crafting x

I’m Loving…

This gorgeous rug from Anthropologie {I can not wait to hit the Regent Street store next week!} I must admit I have a bit of a thing for fabulous patterned rugs at the moment and this one ticks all the boxes…

One of the questions I most frequently am asked about being a stylist is “Where do you get your inspiration from?” My answer in nearly always from a pattern or print, it’s often a fabric or a wallpaper but sometimes a fabulous pieces of upholstery or a rug such as this does the trick too and I build an entire room scheme around it. What with the big move It’s been a while since I sunk my teeth into a shoot so I thought I’d dream up a little scheme just for here…

Coral has been a big hit in the interiors world this year, but interestingly more so in accessories rather than on the walls. Maybe it’s a bit too close to terracotta that seemed to adorn every wall in the 90′s so people are steering clear! In an attempt to get cozy this evening I’m being inspired by warm corals mixed with charcoal.

Here’s Simon and I rocking the Coral look during warmer times in Sydney!

Christmas Inspiration {Sweet Paul}

All this snow is making me feel rather festive and seeing as it’s the first of December I decided it’s time to get a little Christmas inspiration around here. If you love Christmas and you love vintage photo’s {check, check I hear you cry!} you are going to love this feature in the Holiday issue of Sweet Paul. It’s making me want to reach for the scissors and start crafting some decorations!

If you’re not already familiar with Sweet Paul you have to check it out both the magazine and blog by the ridiculously talented New York based Props stylist / crafter Paul Lowe – they’re heaven! Move over Martha I’ve a new American Idol!

I’m Back

Sorry! I hadn’t intended on being away quite so long. We’ve arrived home safely to the Uk to be greeted with a cute banner lovingly sewn by my mum and “sister-in-law” {much to Simon’s embarrassment at the airport} and a fair few inches of snow. Which has come as some what of a shock to the system. After a hectic few day of catching up with family and friends, a spot of wedding dress shopping {I’ve found “the one”} and a rather annoying wisdom tooth issue I’m finally finding time to say hello! I’ll be back a bit later with some festive inspiration, stay tuned!
