Idea’s For Floor Tiles {Real Living}

So it’s been a bit of a while since I last shared one of my shoots with you. My final shoot for the lovely peeps at  Real Living was all about floor tiles. Interesting ways of using ceramic; cork and vinyl tiles. So I decided upon coloured grout; cutting cork tiles to create a zig zag pattern and a woven check effect using self adhesive vinyl tiles {the lovely Simon had his work cut out helping build my sets for this one!}, anyway here are the shots {photographed by the lovely Maree Homer} tomorrow I’ll post the moodboards and sketches. {Have I mentioned how much I’m loving green right now…once or twice maybe!}

Happy Birthday To Us!

Hello my friends. I hope that you had a lovely weekend? I have to say it was a weekend full of work for me {the joy’s of  being freelance!} we did however finally manage to get our Wedding Invites made {it’s two months today…eek!} once they’ve been posted out I’ll give you a sneak peep!  Yesterday was my 2nd blogging birthday and it almost slipped by without me noticing! Thank you so much for popping by to visit me over the past two years. This little blog that started as a way for me share everything I love has come along way since 2009 {well 1/2 way round the world in fact!} thanks for following me on my adventures over the past year…what a year it’s been…

Red Nose Day {& some suitably red rooms}

Evening my friends. So the end of another busy week {as you may have noted by the lack of posts!} and I had planned on a soak in the tub and an early night. However I’ve found I’m unable to tear myself away from the TV. Comic Relief is the saddest and funniest thing I’ve seen in ages. It’s a bit of an emotional roller coaster from tears of disbelief to literally crying with laughter. If you want to know how you can donate then click here. Now I know it’s a slightly tedious link but in honour of Red Nose Day  and all the good that it does here are some rooms beautifully decorated in red…

Loving Exposed Brick…

Recently I’ve been seeing an increasing amount of exposed brickwork on show inside the home. Not that that’s a bad thing because I’m quite a fan. We actually have a brick fireplace in our sitting room. Annoyingly previous owners decided to varnish the bricks {Yes I did say varnish} So no amount of loving restoration would get them back to their original best, therefore we had to paint them. Luckily they obviously ran out of the hideous varnish before doing the inside so I still have a tiny bit of tonal brick work on show! The joy of exposed brickwork is that it can work in a rustic or sleek scheme. Admittedly it’s a lot about the bricks you use. In my opinion they “greyer” and more rustic the better. Anything too red screams “80′s new build” and trust me that’s not a good look indoors! My new found love of exposed bricks has left me drooling over these inspiring rooms…

So I’m guessing exposed brickwork might be a bit of a “marmite moment” you either love it or hate it – what do think? Will you be peeling back the plaster?

Monday Musings…

Hello my friends. Hope you had a lovely weekend? Mine involved; drinks with friends {I’m getting too old to drink}; a quick trip up to Suffolk; a visit to our fave local junk shop; a rather soggy dog walk with friends {made worth while with tea and scones} and a very thrown together at the last min diner gathering for my dad’s birthday, phew I’m exhausted even thinking about it! As ever Monday has flown by without a chance for me to sit down a write a “proper” post but I thought I’d share with you the beautiful Amy Butler fabrics that I’ve been “crafting” with today. I love that I occasionally get paid to craft  and today I’ve been working on some craft projects for a shoot for Country Homes & Interiors Magazine. However, I am desperately in need of doing some of my own crafting with the wedding only a little over two months away. The other vaguely “share worthy” moment of my day was little Dudley sniffing / nibbling the spring time blooms in my folks front garden! Yes Spring is certainly just round the corner …

No Really, it’s Ikea!

It would be fair to say that I’ve met a few “style snobs” in my time. {“style snob”, somebody who refuses to credit a stylish object based solely upon the price tag} I’m a big believer that items don’t have to come from “high-end” brand to be super stylish, and that the high street produces some stunning, well designed “must have” pieces. I’ve met more than my fair share of people who won’t credit Ikea as being a leading design force and yet Ikea has some of the best designed pieces around {in my humble opinion!} Anyway I digress ever so slightly {as per usual} As much as I think Ikea is great even I was shocked/ stunned / really inspired when Anna from  Livet Hemma {life at home} Ikea’s interior inspiration blog contacted me. The blog aims to  create inspiring images by styling Ikea pieces in interesting ways and in exciting environments. By doing so they hope to reignite the qualities of Ikea furniture and let it be seen in a special light rather than just ‘the Ikea Catalogue’ images {their words, not mine!} And wow – does it do that. Some of the shot’s look like they are fresh out of an Anthropologie brochure, seriously Ikea has never looked so good…{even to a life long fan!}

Even more exciting is that fact that each week Anna is going to send me over a sneak peep at the new images they’ve shot even before they post them on their own blog, so stay tuned for more  inspiration from Livet Hemma. In the mean time take yourself over there and see what else they’ve been up to.

Happy Friday peeps x
