Friday Fancies {on Saturday!}

It’s been a full on week of shooting {rounded of with a lovely shoot for Monsoon today} I’m so pleased it’s the weekend. Here are a few things that are making me smile this weekend…

1. The stunning embroidery of Sally Nencini.

2. Inspiring space from Covet Garden.

3. It’s official I have Home envy. This is just one of 4 {yes 4!} gorgeous outbuilding at the location I’ve been shooting in today…I’m dreaming of outbuildings right now.

4. Inspiration from this lovely blog.

5. A couple of weeks ago I shot for a craft book with photographer Claire Richardson, who started her career as a stylist. She’s lovely, as is her work.

Blacklist Studio

Ideal Home magazine will always have a little place in my heart,  it’s where I learnt my trade and spent the first 6 years of my life as a stylist {before I headed to Sydney for a little styling adventure!} I can’t believe almost two years have gone by since I flew the IH nest, it’s crazy. This week I’ve been shooting for Ideal Home again, and it feels kind of strange, almost like the past two years didn’t happen at all!  I miss my days in Sydney especially when I have a little reminder of all the creative peeps I had the pleasure of working with during my time there. A few days ago I received an email for one such peep! The lovely Jaynie from Sydney based Blacklist Studio contacted me to let me know about their latest collection and,most importantly, that they will ship to the Uk, hurrah for lovely little pieces of Sydney!

Introducing Patchwork Butterfly

Last week I received a lovely email from  artist / designer Lisa Marie Gibbs introducing me to her new website Patchwork Butterfly.  Lisa’s work combines illustrations and hand-stitching and her cushions are a delight!  To launch her new range of products Lisa is offering a giveaway of one of her hand embroidered “Running around in circles” cushion, find out how to enter here

Not only are the products super cute the photography is lovely too, I followed the link to Salvo Toscano’s site where I found shots of Lisa’s studio, and you know how much I love a workroom / creative space…

Hello!

Somewhere between making toffee apples and hunting for kindling for a Country Homes & Interiors Shoot; doing a spot of styling for a Craft book and prepping for this weeks shoots (for Ideal Home & Monsoon), I managed to once again lose my way around here. I seem to be struggling with the work life balance at the moment. Last week saw a much-needed family break to beautiful North Devon. Sadly the joy’s of being freelance {the show must go on} and catching the Hubby’s “Man Flu” meant it wasn’t quite as relaxing as planned! Mind you I did get to explore a few lovely markets and  pick up some thrifty  finds along the away {you can get a lot for £10 in Devon!}. Well sick note filed, normal service will now resume…

Friday Fancies {A little late!}

Well better late than never! It’s just been one of those weeks. Poorly babies; a hubby with a stinking cold; a trauma at the salon; a puppy that refuses to “go outside” when it’s raining and two big shoots to prep for. C’est la vie! ,here’s some loveliness that’s brightened up my week:

1. Oh how I’d love a walk in wardrobe just like this {hope the husband is listening!} via Marie Claire Maison

2. I’ve got styling envy for this shoot from Red. It’s one I wish I could say was my own but is the work of the talented Mary Norden. Check out the rest of the feature over at Will’s Bright Bazaar.

3. The wonderful hand stitched creations of Abigail Brown {who’s knocking me up something for my CH&I shoot next week}

4.Urban Outfitters teamed up with Shawn Hileman to produce this print {it’s great to have someone to share adventures with}

5. New lampshade chandelier from Rockett St George – it reminds me of our DIY versions at our wedding. Talking of weddings stay tuned tomorrow for my first “Wedding Weekender” post. I decided rather than creating a whole new blog I’ll start a little mini-series. Each weekend  I’ll share some of the projects and ideas from our own nuptials as well as inspiration and pearls of wisdom that we gathered along the way.

Happy Weekend my friends x

New Liberty Book

Morning my friends. Today I’m going to tease you with a book that goes on sale here in the UK in September {so we are all going to have to wait just a little longer I’m afraid} I’m ever so slightly obsessed with Liberty print fabrics. I often find myself wandering around the Haberdashery / dress making department, sucking in all the inspiration, wondering what I cold make with every single print. My Bridesmaid dress / Dudley’s bow tie and the hankies for the chaps at our wedding were made in a Liberty print {which is now discontinued and my mum and the lovely sales lady in Liberty went to great lengths ensure we secured the last 10 metres!} Oh and talking of weddings our wedding was featured on the oh so lovely Style Me Pretty yesterday which means I can finally blog about it properly here. I’m going to start a little mini series of “Wedding Weekenders”and blog about all of the projects and inspiration I found along the way.

I digress! Back to this lovely book that I really really want, it couldn’t get any more perfect, Liberty print fabrics and some gorgeous styling and photography, here’s a little preview via the publishing peeps at Quadrille

Is it just me or is there something so delicious about a pile of fabric covered books?
